  • In this very special edition of From OUTSIDE the Test Kitchen, Christina Chaey heads to Kopitiam to learn how to make Nasi Lemak, a Malaysian dish of coconut rice topped with crispy anchovies in a sambal sauce. With the guidance of the restaurant's head chef Kyo Pang and GM Moonlynn Tsai, Christina learns how to make this incredible dish from one of Bon Appétit's Hot 10 restaurants.

                                            I find the way she says "Kopitiam" is sooooooooooooooo cringey. Even the way the owners say it, idk why, I guess because I'm so used to the word already, as a singaporean. (And because I'm chinese) btw, I'm pretty sure that the word "Kopitiam" is hokkien. (So basically 咖啡店 lah)

                                                Vanessa Lam you can always make nasi lemak and omit the peanuts. I personally like nasi lemak with the peanuts, but many of my family don’t like the peanuts with the nasi lemak. So it’s not like it’s a super essential part of nasi lemak.
